Balança Rede FC's Rogério Velloso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Armando Obeko in the 3rd minute of play. After some careless play in the Grêmio FBPA defense, Mané Garrincha kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Andréas Linquist. The Grêmio FBPA fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Andréas Linquist should have stopped the shot. 8 minutes into the game, Grêmio FBPA's Armando Obeko nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Rogério Velloso made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. If Guto de Brito had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 14 minutes into the game, Grêmio FBPA's Armando Obeko nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Rogério Velloso was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Armando Obeko recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 32nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Rogério Velloso showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Armando Obeko, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. After some careless play in the Balança Rede FC defense, Armando Obeko kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Rogério Velloso. The Balança Rede FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Rogério Velloso should have stopped the shot. When the match clock showed 39 minutes, the score became 5-1 when Gergely Takács sped through Balança Rede FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Rogério Velloso. Grêmio FBPA's Armando Obeko got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Af the end of the first half the score was 5-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Gergely Takács to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 55th match minute, Grêmio FBPA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Décio Negri to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to Grêmio FBPA getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Serafim Salles hit a great ball. When Décio Negri fell near the penalty area in the 64th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Grêmio FBPA's protests and gave Décio Negri a yellow card for diving instead. 63 minutes into the game, one of Grêmio FBPA:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Marcelinho Cearense shot the penalty kick right outside the post. Rogério Velloso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Armando Obeko, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Rogério Velloso came out of the goal in the 80th minute to try and stop a shot by Grêmio FBPA's Gergely Takács. But to his dismay, Gergely Takács quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 6-1. The supporters of Grêmio FBPA booed when Balança Rede FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Daniel das Neves didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 84th minute Serafim Salles shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rogério Velloso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Andréas Linquist took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mané Garrincha, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Natã Ramalho kicked well hit freekick during the 92nd minute of the match. When Marcelinho Cearense came up free with the goalie in the 93rd minute, the Balança Rede FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Marcelinho Cearense couldn't finish the play. 96 minutes into the game, Waldemar Harendarski was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Balança Rede FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Grêmio FBPA the free kick. After 96 played minutes Balança Rede FC got a freekick which was hit by Waldemar Harendarski. Grêmio FBPA's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
