But to his dismay, Amadeu Quintal quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. Mazinho Gaúcho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vânderson Borges, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. Claudinho Abreu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adam Encuțescu in the 18th minute of play. Claudinho Abreu was a little too slow when Adam Encuțescu got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 19th minute. The score was now 3-0. The supporters of Cascavel booed when EC Caucaia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hílton Palmeira didn't get a good kick on the ball.
