BOTAFOGO's Alfonso Taraborrelli played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edin Džeko in the 7th minute of play. Alfonso Taraborrelli showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Guilherme Peres, who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. When the match had gone on for 10 minutes, Edin Džeko put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Alfonso Taraborrelli. If Jaanek Oese had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 18 minutes into the game, Kauan Melo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Amadeo Rufo was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 22nd minute Jaanek Oese shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Amadeo Rufo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Edin Džeko in the 24th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Alfonso Taraborrelli saved BOTAFOGO from getting behind. A collision led to Nova Erechim - FSCMZ getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Régis Mello hit a great ball. 26 minutes into the game, Jaanek Oese recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Amadeo Rufo. Jaanek Oese showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-1. Alfonso Taraborrelli showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from German Pezzella, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. In the 34th minute, Toninho Madureira left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The BOTAFOGO fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-1. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Edin Džeko in the 37th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Alfonso Taraborrelli prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Guilherme Peres fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alfonso Taraborrelli having to interfere. Toninho Madureira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Amadeo Rufo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Edin Džeko stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. BOTAFOGO's Alfonso Taraborrelli proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 51st minute of the match, managed to save BOTAFOGO from getting a goal against them. Alfonso Taraborrelli took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edin Džeko, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Edin Džeko received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Alfonso Taraborrelli came out and tried to block the shot, but Edin Džeko slotted it home off the left post making it 3-2 in the 57th minute. When Nova Erechim - FSCMZ's Edin Džeko in the 62nd minute got a chance for a shot 62nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye BOTAFOGO's goalie prevented a goal. Edin Džeko sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 86th minute Edin Džeko shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alfonso Taraborrelli saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 88thth minute of the game Edin Džeko who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but BOTAFOGO's Alfonso Taraborrelli was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When Nova Erechim - FSCMZ's Edin Džeko in the 89th minute got a chance for a shot 89th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie.
