The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Patrick Meira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 3rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gilvan Sanches having to interfere. Tadeu Cosme's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Eurico de Godoi read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 5th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jessie Pinkman in the 11th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Eurico de Godoi prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 14thth minute of the game Cipriano Duarte who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Green Squad FC's Gilvan Sanches was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Cipriano Duarte in the 15th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gilvan Sanches prevented the ball from getting in the gole. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ronaldo Riesgo in the 18th minute of play forced Green Squad FC's goalkeeper Gilvan Sanches to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Cipriano Duarte's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gilvan Sanches was relentless in the 20th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cipriano Duarte in the 24th minute of play forced Green Squad FC's goalkeeper Gilvan Sanches to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Russe Athletic booed when Green Squad FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Renato Messias didn't get a good kick on the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
The wind increased when Jessie Pinkman made the kick off in the second half. After 64 played minutes, Green Squad FC's Conrado Pernambucano shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Eurico de Godoi came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Green Squad FC reached it. Cipriano Duarte received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Gilvan Sanches tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 68 played minutes Green Squad FC got a freekick which was hit by Gonçalo Maia. 75 minutes into the game, Glauco Valadares was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Russe Athletic's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Green Squad FC the free kick. Green Squad FC's Jessie Pinkman got a good chance for a goal in the 79th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Patrick Meira's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gilvan Sanches read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 81st minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jarbas Vargas in the 84th minute of play forced Green Squad FC's goalkeeper Gilvan Sanches to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Claudinho Pires's late challenge caught a Green Squad FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Claudinho Pires helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Russe Athletic's Claudinho Pires got a free kick in the 89th minute. In the 93rd minute, Russe Athletic's Cipriano Duarte dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-3. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Russe Athletic eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
