In the 17th minute Mário Cardoso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fabiano Saldanha saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Fabiano Saldanha made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bai Xu Bang in the 19th minute of play. When the match clock showed 20 minutes, the score became 1-0 when Luís de Moraes sped through São Germano Paulista's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Ruy Pinho. 23 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when São Germano Paulista's Adelino Custódio fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. He walked away shaking his head. The audience was convinced that Adelino Custódio's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Fabiano Saldanha was relentless in the 23rd minute of the game. A collision led to Esperança FC getting a freekick after 25 minutes play. Bastian Røyrvik hit a great ball. Luís de Moraes charged in rather forcefully in the 26th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Esperança FC's Fabiano Saldanha played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bai Xu Bang in the 30th minute of play. Adelino Custódio took the ball and in the 32 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Fabiano Saldanha. São Germano Paulista were furious when Hulusi Mutlualp was red carded, 51 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 51st minute of the game. One of São Germano Paulista:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Esperança FC:s goal. 53 minutes into the match, Adilson de Alcântara had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ruy Pinho. São Germano Paulista's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Adilson de Alcântara was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. Ruy Pinho was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 97 minutes into the game, Adelino Custódio recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Fabiano Saldanha. Adelino Custódio showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 3-2.
