The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Evelio Cobo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Silvinho Pinheiro in the 7th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Leonard Setara got free with Evelio Cobo in the 8th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 10th minute, Douglas Berger ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Evelio Cobo was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. Moisés Camargo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Evelio Cobo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Leonard Setara in the 18th minute of the match. Moisés Camargo took the ball and in the 21 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Evelio Cobo. Evelio Cobo dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-0. Douglas Berger could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 24th minute of the match, but Evelio Cobo made a huge save. AMÉRICA F.C.'s Oséas Trancoso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edward Tyskie in the 26th minute of play. In the 26thth minute of the game Edward Tyskie who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but AMÉRICA F.C.'s Oséas Trancoso was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The supporters of AMÉRICA F.C. booed when VR. GARARU was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Valdemar Moura didn't get a good kick on the ball. VR. GARARU's defense didn't have a chance, in the 33rd minute, when Douglas Berger scored to the left of an out of position Evelio Cobo, making the score, 4-0. After 39 minutes, Moisés Camargo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the AMÉRICA F.C. and the VR. GARARU players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, AMÉRICA F.C.'s Moisés Camargo got a free kick in the 39th minute. In the 43rd minute Leonard Setara shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Evelio Cobo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Douglas Berger got free with Evelio Cobo in the 47th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 4-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Edward Tyskie made a kick off. Michael Ballack scored 5-0 in the 56th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Evelio Cobo, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 60 minutes into the game, Mané Garrincha was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. AMÉRICA F.C. walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
