Marcelo Lomba made an important save on a dangerous shot by Durvalino Matorin in the 42nd minute. Esporte Club Bahia's Yan Furtado suffered a concussion in the 43rd minute, after a hard challenge, and had to leave the field. When Raí Furtado fell near the penalty area in the 43rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. After 44 played minutes Liverpool FC got a freekick which was hit by Raí Furtado. Durvalino Paraense came out of the goal in the 46th minute to try and stop a shot by Esporte Club Bahia's Luís Eduardo Salles. But to his dismay, Luís Eduardo Salles quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-5.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Durvalino Matorin made a kick off. Liverpool FC were awarded a corner in the 53th minute after Esporte Club Bahia's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Dráuzio Tande took the corner. If Raí Furtado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 58th minute, Luís Eduardo Salles managed to get in a good position for a shot. Esporte Club Bahia's supporters rose to their feet, but Luís Eduardo Salles was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Durvalino Paraense breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Luís Eduardo Salles had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. Durvalino Paraense showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luiz Gustavo Paes, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. The audience was convinced that Luiz Gustavo Paes's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Durvalino Paraense was relentless in the 69th minute of the game. In the 73rd minute, Luís Eduardo Salles got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Esporte Club Bahia's zone, Durvalino Matorin stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marcelo Lomba came out of the goal and Durvalino Matorin tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Luís Eduardo Salles might have been able to make a better finish in the 93rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Durvalino Paraense. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Luís Eduardo Salles ran back to his position shaking his head. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Luís Eduardo Salles in the 95th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Durvalino Paraense saved Liverpool FC from getting behind. Esporte Club Bahia played a much better game than Liverpool FC and deserved their victory. The Liverpool FC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
