The audience was convinced that Juarês Lara's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Rodrigo Guerra was relentless in the 8th minute of the game. The Almirantes F.C. fans' excitement grew in the 8th match minute when Almirantes F.C.'s Juarês Lara looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. Pombal FC's Rodrigo Guerra played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Romário dos Santos in the 19th minute of play. In the 20th minute, Antônio Prestes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 21st minute, one of Almirantes F.C.:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Almirantes F.C.. The referee gave Pombal FC a penalty, 22 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Celsinho Mazza, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Almirantes F.C.'s Ezequiel Barbosa. 1-1. Arlindo Godoi succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 2-1 in the 27th playminute. The Pombal FC fans' excitement grew in the 30th match minute when Pombal FC's José Augusto Pontes looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 3-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ezequiel Barbosa showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Rodrigo Guerra made an important save on a dangerous shot by Juarês Lara in the 92nd minute. Pombal FC were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Almirantes F.C. for a fine match.
