Hortêncio Costa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vito Veloso, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. In the 8th minute Vito Veloso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hortêncio Costa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. São Salvador's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Rafel Domao in the 10th minute. São Salvador's Rafel Domao was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Hortêncio Costa in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. In the 35th minute, Rafel Domao got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 37 minutes of play, São Salvador's Jasmin Jambrešić made it 6-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Hortêncio Costa was left in no man's land by his defense there! Hortêncio Costa made a fantastic save in the 41st minute, when Jasmin Jambrešić sent off a good shot on target. When Vito Veloso came up free with the goalie in the 45th minute, the São Salvador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Vito Veloso couldn't finish the play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Júnior Coutinho got free with Hortêncio Costa in the 47th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 6-0.

Hortêncio Costa didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Umberto de Souza went, in the 52nd minute, to the upper right corner, 7-0 was the resulting score. Hortêncio Costa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Aaron Domenec in the 94th minute of the match. 95 minutes into the game, São Salvador's Vito Veloso nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot.
