After some fancy dribbling in the 8th minute, Edgar Salles managed to get in a good position for a shot. SAS's supporters rose to their feet, but Edgar Salles was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Alfredo Paraibano breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to FÊNIX F.C. getting a freekick after 9 minutes play. João Paulo Prata hit a great ball. After 11 minutes, Júlio Saraiva mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the SAS and the FÊNIX F.C. players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, SAS's Júlio Saraiva got a free kick in the 11th minute. After 13 minutes of play, FÊNIX F.C.'s Kauã Moreno made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Edvaldo Brasil was left in no man's land by his defense there! Luiz Guilherme Paraenses short, quick shot in the 18thth minute got Alfredo Paraibano to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Bengt Bouchard fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edvaldo Brasil having to interfere. In the 26th match minute, SAS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luiz Guilherme Madureira to maneuver through the defense. When FÊNIX F.C.'s Bengt Bouchard in the 27th minute got a chance for a shot 27th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye SAS's goalie prevented a goal. The referee ignored SAS's protests and gave Nilmar de Queiroz a yellow card for diving instead. In the 41st minute Bengt Bouchard shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edvaldo Brasil saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Alfredo Paraibano made an important save on a dangerous shot by Luiz Guilherme Paraense in the 43rd minute. 44 minutes into the match, FÊNIX F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Luiz Guilherme Paraense came free, but Alfredo Paraibano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 47th minute of the match Marquinhos Teixeira shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Edvaldo Brasil showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After the first half FÊNIX F.C. were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Bengt Bouchard stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Agostinho Carneiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alfredo Paraibano having to interfere. Edvaldo Brasil made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marquinhos Teixeira in the 55th minute of play. Edvaldo Brasil took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marquinhos Teixeira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 62nd match minute, FÊNIX F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marquinhos Teixeira to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of SAS booed when FÊNIX F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kauã Moreno didn't get a good kick on the ball. FÊNIX F.C.'s Genílson Ferraz was substituted for João Carlos Medeiros. After a rather tough play, FÊNIX F.C.'s Kauã Moreno got a free kick in the 71st minute. The audience was convinced that Edgar Salles's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Alfredo Paraibano was relentless in the 74th minute of the game. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. FÊNIX F.C. walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
