With a little luck, Maragua EC's Luizão Braga got control of the ball when Mathias Ramos tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 6 played minutes Maragua EC got a freekick which was hit by Erik Favoretto. Cafu Furlan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luizão Braga having to interfere. 13 minutes into the match, Maragua EC's goalkeeper Luizão Braga had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Mathias Ramos. In the 14th minute, Adilson Freire hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Luizão Braga showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Elias França, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Mathias Ramos got free with Luizão Braga in the 17th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cássio de Senna in the 18th minute of play forced RECOBA F.C.'s goalkeeper Gugu Tasso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 25 played minutes Maragua EC got a freekick which was hit by Cássio de Senna. Percival Trevisan recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 33rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Gugu Tasso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pedro Luís Pitta, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Luizão Braga made a fantastic save in the 41st minute, when Mathias Ramos sent off a good shot on target. Luizão Braga made a fantastic save in the 43rd minute, when Cafu Furlan sent off a good shot on target. If João Paulo Mazza had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Maragua EC's Zé Carlos de Barros was substituted for Erik Favoretto. Cafu Furlan kicked well hit freekick during the 48th minute of the match. Maragua EC made a substitution. Chiquinho de Lara replaced Pedro Luís Pitta. Cafu Furlan hit a great freekick 49 minutes into the match. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Chiquinho de Lara was the one to do the kick off. After 66 minutes of play, RECOBA F.C.'s Mathias Ramos made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Luizão Braga was left in no man's land by his defense there! Luizão Braga took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Walmir de Castro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the Maragua EC defense, Cafu Furlan kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Luizão Braga. The Maragua EC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Luizão Braga should have stopped the shot. Luizão Braga came out of the goal in the 80th minute to try and stop a shot by RECOBA F.C.'s Mathias Ramos. But to his dismay, Mathias Ramos quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-0. In the 85th minute, Jarbas Brito left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The RECOBA F.C. fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-0. Walmir de Castro charged in rather forcefully in the 98th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Walmir de Castro the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Maragua EC booed when RECOBA F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 98 match minutes in a wonderful position. Walmir de Castro didn't get a good kick on the ball.
