Luizão Braga made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. A collision led to Maragua EC getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Daniel Schmidt hit a great ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Maragua EC's Cássio de Senna slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Vítor Silva. That made the score 1-3 after 41 minutes of play. If Fernandão Carneiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half FLACONQUISTA were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Chiquinho de Lara made the kick off in the second half. Sérgio Ribeiro's late challenge caught a Maragua EC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Sérgio Ribeiro helped the player get up and apologised. In the 53rd minute, Sérgio Ribeiro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Maragua EC's Chiquinho de Lara in the 54th minute got a chance for a shot 54th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye FLACONQUISTA's goalie prevented a goal. In the 56th minute, Cássio de Senna hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Maragua EC's Luizão Braga played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Claudinei Ferreira in the 74th minute of play. The throw-in from Daniel Schmidt in the 78th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by FLACONQUISTA's Zé Carlos Martins. After having played for 95 minutes, João Paulo Mazza managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Maragua EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but João Paulo Mazza was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
