After 9 minutes of play, Brigido EC's Pedrinho Bueno made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Carlos Augusto Rodrigues was left in no man's land by his defense there! When the match clock showed 12 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Pedrinho Bueno sped through Bahia's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Carlos Augusto Rodrigues. After 15 played minutes Brigido EC got a freekick which was hit by Benê Prado. Waldemar Lara could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 16th minute of the match, but Magno Pitta made a huge save. When the match had gone on for 18 minutes, Denílson Alvarenga put it in 0-3 from a short distance just to the right of Carlos Augusto Rodrigues. When Denílson Alvarenga came up free with the goalie in the 21st minute, the Brigido EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Denílson Alvarenga couldn't finish the play. In the 22nd match minute, Bahia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Claus Vandewalle to maneuver through the defense. When Percy Bertassi came up free with the goalie in the 29th minute, the Bahia fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Percy Bertassi couldn't finish the play. Denílson Alvarenga sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Carlos Augusto Rodrigues dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-5. After some careless play in the Bahia defense, Pedrinho Bueno kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Carlos Augusto Rodrigues. The Bahia fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Carlos Augusto Rodrigues should have stopped the shot. When Pedrinho Bueno came up free with the goalie in the 39th minute, the Brigido EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Pedrinho Bueno couldn't finish the play. 43 minutes into the match, Eriberto Esteves had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Carlos Augusto Rodrigues. Bahia's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Eriberto Esteves was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-7. Amadeu de Sousa's late challenge caught a Brigido EC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Amadeu de Sousa helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Bahia getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Amadeu de Sousa hit a great ball. In the 48th minute of the match Eriberto Esteves sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Carlos Augusto Rodrigues skillfully saved the ball.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Pedrinho Bueno to strike the kick off in the second half. Brigido EC's Eriberto Esteves got a good chance for a goal in the 55th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Bahia's Percy Bertassi got a good chance for a goal in the 62nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Magno Pitta showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Percy Bertassi in the 66th minute of the match. Bahia's Carlos Augusto Rodrigues played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pedrinho Bueno in the 67th minute of play. In the 67th minute, Pedrinho Bueno left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Brigido EC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-8. Carlos Augusto Rodrigues showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Pedrinho Bueno, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. Claus Vandewalle hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Denílson Alvarenga got free with Carlos Augusto Rodrigues in the 73rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The supporters of Bahia booed when Brigido EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Téo Vergílio didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 77th match minute, Brigido EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Téo Vergílio to maneuver through the defense. In the 82nd minute Percy Bertassi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Magno Pitta saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Denílson Alvarenga's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Carlos Augusto Rodrigues firmly grabbed it by the left post. In the 89th minute of the match, Denílson Alvarenga got a very nice opportunity to score, but Carlos Augusto Rodrigues was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Brigido EC's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
