Arnaldo de Sousa's late challenge caught a São Petersburgo FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Erasmo de Azevedo was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 17 minutes into the match, São Petersburgo FC's goal looked a bit too open when Thomás Barreto came free, but Erasmo de Azevedo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Erasmo de Azevedo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Thomás Barreto in the 19th minute of play. Thomás Barreto recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 41st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Erasmo de Azevedo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sandro Cordeiro, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. 46 minutes into the match, Zayvius Aveo notched a goal, 0-4, to the right of São Petersburgo FC's Erasmo de Azevedo. Erasmo de Azevedo was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Arnaldo de Sousa stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Zayvius Aveo received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Erasmo de Azevedo came out and tried to block the shot, but Zayvius Aveo slotted it home off the left post making it 0-5 in the 53rd minute. After a rather tough play, Al-Nassr Football Club's Humberto Damião got a free kick in the 60th minute. Benedito de Azevedo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Agostinho Vaz, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. After 68 minutes of play, Al-Nassr Football Club's Sandro Cordeiro made it 0-7 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Erasmo de Azevedo was left in no man's land by his defense there! Nilton Alagoano kicked well hit freekick during the 71st minute of the match. When Arnaldo de Sousa came up free with the goalie in the 72nd minute, the Al-Nassr Football Club fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Arnaldo de Sousa couldn't finish the play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by José Maria Vergílio during the 74th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Al-Nassr Football Club's José Maria Vergílio got a free kick in the 74th minute. A collision led to Al-Nassr Football Club getting a freekick after 80 minutes play. Yuri Lara hit a great ball. In the 85th minute, Evandro de Senna hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. São Petersburgo FC's Erasmo de Azevedo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sandro Cordeiro in the 89th minute of play. In the 92nd minute Sandro Cordeiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Erasmo de Azevedo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 95 minutes into the match, São Petersburgo FC's goal looked a bit too open when Arnaldo de Sousa came free, but Erasmo de Azevedo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Erasmo de Azevedo came out of the goal in the 97th minute to try and stop a shot by Al-Nassr Football Club's Arnaldo de Sousa. But to his dismay, Arnaldo de Sousa quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-8.
