Erasmo de Azevedo came out of the goal in the 3rd minute to try and stop a shot by Celtic FC's Raphael Almeida. But to his dismay, Raphael Almeida quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. When the match clock showed 6 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Raphael Almeida sped through São Petersburgo FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Erasmo de Azevedo. In the 9th minute, Vicente Matos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Celtic FC's zone, Evandro de Senna stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Efrain Salamon came out of the goal and Evandro de Senna tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Celtic FC booed when São Petersburgo FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Christiano Meira didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in São Petersburgo FC's zone, Raphael Almeida stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Erasmo de Azevedo came out of the goal and Raphael Almeida tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Raphael Almeida in the 15th minute of play forced São Petersburgo FC's goalkeeper Erasmo de Azevedo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 16th minute, Quexal Rajoi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 17th minute of the match Marcelinho Mendes sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Efrain Salamon skillfully saved the ball. Erasmo de Azevedo came out of the goal in the 23rd minute to try and stop a shot by Celtic FC's Giovanni Bueno. But to his dismay, Giovanni Bueno quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-4. When the match clock showed 26 minutes, the score became 0-5 when Vicente Matos sped through São Petersburgo FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Erasmo de Azevedo. 30 minutes into the match, São Petersburgo FC's goal looked a bit too open when Vicente Matos came free, but Erasmo de Azevedo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, São Petersburgo FC's Horácio Coutinho got a free kick in the 32nd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vicente Matos in the 34th minute of play forced São Petersburgo FC's goalkeeper Erasmo de Azevedo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Erasmo de Azevedo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Raphael Almeida, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. In the 41st minute, Vicente Matos made a precise shot to the right of Erasmo de Azevedo. São Petersburgo FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-7. Erasmo de Azevedo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Raphael Almeida in the 46th minute of the match. The São Petersburgo FC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Celtic FC were winning 0-7.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Eugênio Meirelles stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The crowd rose to their feet as Giovanni Bueno kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Erasmo de Azevedo. That made the score 0-8 in the 53 minute of play. 56 minutes into the match, São Petersburgo FC's goal looked a bit too open when Raphael Almeida came free, but Erasmo de Azevedo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 58th minute Celtic FC were awarded a corner. Edson Oliveira went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led Celtic FC's Raphael Almeida to fire away a dangerous shot which Erasmo de Azevedo despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. 60 minutes had been played when some careless play by São Petersburgo FC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Edson Oliveira was slow to take the kick. During this time Celtic FC's players had a chance to rest. The corner led to Celtic FC's Vicente Matos getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. After 61 played minutes Celtic FC got a freekick which was hit by Jyayas Rama. After 63 played minutes, São Petersburgo FC's Betinho Dracena shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Efrain Salamon came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in São Petersburgo FC reached it. The crowd rose to their feet as Raphael Almeida kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Erasmo de Azevedo. That made the score 0-9 in the 67 minute of play. After 71 minutes, Vicente Matos made it 0-10 with a short kick to the right side. São Petersburgo FC's Erasmo de Azevedo tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. After some careless play in the São Petersburgo FC defense, Raphael Almeida kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Erasmo de Azevedo. The São Petersburgo FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Erasmo de Azevedo should have stopped the shot. When the match clock showed 78 minutes, the score became 0-12 when Raphael Almeida sped through São Petersburgo FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Erasmo de Azevedo. Giovanni Bueno received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute. Erasmo de Azevedo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The crowd rose to their feet as Vicente Matos kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Erasmo de Azevedo. That made the score 0-13 in the 82 minute of play. Erasmo de Azevedo didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Beto Hermes went, in the 86th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-14 was the resulting score. Thanks to some nice moves Vicente Matos could shoot a difficult shot in the 91st minute, which Erasmo de Azevedo however easily saved by the left post. In the 92nd minute Raphael Almeida shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Erasmo de Azevedo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Vicente Matos got free with Erasmo de Azevedo in the 94th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 96th minute, Vicente Matos left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Celtic FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-15. The São Petersburgo FC fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Celtic FC were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
