Gilmar Azevedo in the 13thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of 彭钢昂, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. After a rather tough play, Oiteiras's Luiz Fernando Netto got a free kick in the 17th minute. The long shot by Marco Albuquerque in the 19th minute really tested 彭钢昂's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. 21 minutes into the match, Adilson Reis notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of THE MAYA's Claudinho Taffarel. Claudinho Taffarel was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 彭钢昂 made a fantastic save in the 25th minute, when Gilmar Azevedo sent off a good shot on target. THE MAYA's Claudinho Taffarel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Adilson Reis in the 27th minute of play. Claudinho Taffarel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Narciso Tinoco, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. Claudinho Taffarel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Amílton Pereira in the 31st minute of the match. In the 33rd minute, Geraldo Gonçalves got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Claudinho Taffarel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Adilson Reis, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. Oiteiras's Amílton Pereira got a good chance for a goal in the 40th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Marco Albuquerque received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. 彭钢昂 tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

After having played for 54 minutes, Narciso Tinoco managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Oiteiras's supporters crossed their fingers, but Narciso Tinoco was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Claudinho Taffarel made an important save on a dangerous shot by Adilson Reis in the 56th minute. In the 59th minute, Téo Rossi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Oiteiras's Börje Örtendahl was substituted for Adilson Reis. The supporters of Oiteiras booed when THE MAYA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Téo Rossi didn't get a good kick on the ball. Claudinho Taffarel made an important save on a dangerous shot by Narciso Tinoco in the 61st minute. Gilmar Azevedo charged in rather forcefully in the 62nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Gilmar Azevedo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Oiteiras booed when THE MAYA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gilmar Azevedo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Börje Örtendahl sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. THE MAYA's Benê Trevisan was substituted for Lenílson Bittencourt. 69 minutes into the match, THE MAYA's goal looked a bit too open when Narciso Tinoco came free, but Claudinho Taffarel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 71st minute, Narciso Tinoco reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Claudinho Taffarel. The goal made the score 0-3. The THE MAYA fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Claudinho Taffarel should have stopped the shot.
