The supporters of SPFC booed when São Paulo da Floresta was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tony Campidelis didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Bernard Sierocki in the 12th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Dida Mazzola prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 12th minute, Emerson Sena hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Bernard Sierocki hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. Agnaldo Santos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Teodoro Jacinto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dida Mazzola made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bernard Sierocki in the 21st minute of play. 28 minutes into the match, SPFC's goal looked a bit too open when Luís Paulo Linhares came free, but Dida Mazzola reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, SPFC's Gildo Damião got a free kick in the 31st minute. After having played for 37 minutes, Luís Paulo Linhares managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. São Paulo da Floresta's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luís Paulo Linhares was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 42ndth minute of the game Bernard Sierocki who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but SPFC's Dida Mazzola was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Teodoro Jacinto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Herminio Izel in the 44th minute of the match. 46 minutes into the game, SPFC's Emerson Sena nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Teodoro Jacinto made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Herminio Izel made a kick off. After 53 played minutes SPFC got a freekick which was hit by Herminio Izel. São Paulo da Floresta's Luís Paulo Linhares got a good chance for a goal in the 54th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Luís Paulo Linhares came free with the goalkeeper in the 56th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Dida Mazzola could save by the left post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Emerson Sena in the 59th minute of play forced São Paulo da Floresta's goalkeeper Teodoro Jacinto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. SPFC's Dida Mazzola played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sandu Ţipirig in the 62nd minute of play. In the 63rd minute Herminio Izel shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Teodoro Jacinto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dida Mazzola made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bernard Sierocki in the 65th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Herminio Izel in the 67th minute of play forced São Paulo da Floresta's goalkeeper Teodoro Jacinto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 81st minute, São Paulo da Floresta's Sandu Ţipirig ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Dida Mazzola. Dida Mazzola yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-1. Dida Mazzola took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sandu Ţipirig, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
