Rapid SA:s Reynaldo Souza showed great skill when he stopped Naldo Gomes:s penalty. Rômulo Carvalho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Frank Torres tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 42 minutes into the game, Rapid SA's Rômulo Carvalho nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Frank Torres made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-3. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-3 lead.

The wind increased when Rômulo Carvalho made the kick off in the second half. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Vágner Souza in the 51st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Reynaldo Souza saved Rapid SA from getting behind. Rapid SA's Rômulo Carvalho got a good chance for a goal in the 52nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When the match clock showed 57 minutes, the score became 2-3 when Rômulo Carvalho sped through Operario F C - MS's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Frank Torres.
