The corner led Rezende FC's Eduardo Prado to fire away a dangerous shot which Reinaldo Cardoso despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. 10 minutes into the game, Manoel Montenegro was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Rezende FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Encardidos the free kick. In the 10th match minute, Rezende FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Manoel Montenegro to maneuver through the defense. Reynaldo das Neves stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Adilson Araújo's shot from short distance in the 12th minute. After 14 played minutes Encardidos got a freekick which was hit by João Pedro Mota. The audience thought a goal was coming when Bernardinho Cardoso got free with Reinaldo Cardoso in the 28th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Reynaldo das Neves was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it.

The Encardidos supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Encardidos would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
