In the 5th minute Agnaldo da Fonseca shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edgar de Queiroz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 10th match minute, Unidade Popular was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fabiano Faria to maneuver through the defense. When Ramiro Linares fell near the penalty area in the 16th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Unidade Popular's protests and gave Ramiro Linares a yellow card for diving instead. Edgar de Queiroz came out of the goal in the 18th minute to try and stop a shot by Unidade Popular's Agnaldo da Fonseca. But to his dismay, Agnaldo da Fonseca quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ramiro Linares in the 22nd minute of play forced Figueirense FC - FSCMZ's goalkeeper Edgar de Queiroz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 24 minutes into the game, Elias Viana recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Edgar de Queiroz. Elias Viana showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 3-0. Edgar de Queiroz came out of the goal in the 27th minute to try and stop a shot by Unidade Popular's Ramiro Linares. But to his dismay, Ramiro Linares quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-0. In the 34th match minute, Figueirense FC - FSCMZ was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Oséas Rocha to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 35 minutes, Elias Viana managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Unidade Popular's supporters crossed their fingers, but Elias Viana was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Cláudio Siqueira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lenílson de Alcântara, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 41st minute, Agnaldo da Fonseca reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Edgar de Queiroz. The goal made the score 5-0. After a rather tough play, Figueirense FC - FSCMZ's Agnaldo Quirino got a free kick in the 46th minute. Cláudio Siqueira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from João Adolfo Araújo, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 5-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when João Adolfo Araújo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the match, Ramiro Linares had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Edgar de Queiroz. Figueirense FC - FSCMZ's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ramiro Linares was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 6-0. Unidade Popular's Ramiro Linares got a good chance for a goal in the 56th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Figueirense FC - FSCMZ's Edgar de Queiroz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Elias Viana in the 58th minute of play. In the 60th minute Agnaldo da Fonseca shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edgar de Queiroz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ştefan Daimacă kicked well hit freekick during the 61st minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Figueirense FC - FSCMZ's Ştefan Daimacă got a free kick in the 66th minute. After 72 played minutes Unidade Popular got a freekick which was hit by Algot Pihlblad. After some careless play in the Figueirense FC - FSCMZ defense, Ramiro Linares kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Edgar de Queiroz. The Figueirense FC - FSCMZ fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Edgar de Queiroz should have stopped the shot. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Raúl Prestes during the 83rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lenílson de Alcântara got free with Cláudio Siqueira in the 85th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 89th match minute, Unidade Popular was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Agnaldo da Fonseca to maneuver through the defense. Ştefan Daimacă was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 95 minutes into the match. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 95th minute of the game. One of Figueirense FC - FSCMZ:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Unidade Popular:s goal. The referee gave Unidade Popular a penalty, 97 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Elias Viana, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Figueirense FC - FSCMZ's Edgar de Queiroz. 8-0. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Unidade Popular had won after a very even match.
