The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Pedro Luiz Cardozo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 3rd minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 6th minute, Adalberto Torres managed to get in a good position for a shot. Aikivida's supporters rose to their feet, but Adalberto Torres was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Edgar de Queiroz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Adalberto Torres received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Agnaldo Quirino charged in rather forcefully in the 17th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. With an all-out effort, Aikivida's Edgar de Queiroz threw himself towards the right post 34 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Dimo Abeijon, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. A collision led to Figueirense FC - FSCMZ getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Otávio Neiva hit a great ball. After having played for 36 minutes, Adalberto Torres managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Aikivida's supporters crossed their fingers, but Adalberto Torres was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Aílton Félix got free with Edgar de Queiroz in the 40th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ştefan Daimacă lost his temper 41 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. The supporters of Aikivida booed when Figueirense FC - FSCMZ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ştefan Daimacă didn't get a good kick on the ball. Edgar de Queiroz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Adalberto Torres in the 42nd minute of the match. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The wind increased when João Adolfo Araújo made the kick off in the second half. In the 54th minute, Adalberto Torres made a precise shot to the right of Edgar de Queiroz. Figueirense FC - FSCMZ's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. In the 75th minute, Figueirense FC - FSCMZ's João Adolfo Araújo ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Daniel Lopes. Daniel Lopes yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-1. Aikivida's Dedé de Lima was substituted for Aloísio Prestes. Figueirense FC - FSCMZ's Edgar de Queiroz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dedé de Lima in the 80th minute of play. Pedro Luiz Cardozo took the ball and in the 81 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Edgar de Queiroz. Edgar de Queiroz dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. In the 85th minute, Aílton Félix ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Edgar de Queiroz was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-1. In the 89th minute Adalberto Torres shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edgar de Queiroz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Dedé de Lima in the 90th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Edgar de Queiroz saved Figueirense FC - FSCMZ from getting behind.
