The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 5th minute of the match, Dalmo Recife got a very nice opportunity to score, but Giovanni Schmidt was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Nova Era's Tomás Tasso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ramón Pernambucano in the 14th minute of play. After having played for 15 minutes, Célio Ramalho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Corinthians Paulistano's supporters crossed their fingers, but Célio Ramalho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 18th minute Ramón Pernambucano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tomás Tasso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Corinthians Paulistano's Prime Soon got a free kick in the 21st minute. 23 minutes into the match, Corinthians Paulistano's goalkeeper Giovanni Schmidt had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Pedro Coutinho. In the 24th match minute, Corinthians Paulistano was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by José Luis Sixta to maneuver through the defense. Tomás Tasso came out of the goal in the 31st minute to try and stop a shot by Corinthians Paulistano's Enéas Passos. But to his dismay, Enéas Passos quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. Ramón Pernambucano blasted a shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Tomás Tasso having to make a save. In the 34thth minute of the game Enéas Passos who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Nova Era's Tomás Tasso was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ramón Pernambucano in the 40th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Tomás Tasso saved Nova Era from getting behind. Corinthians Paulistano's Enéas Passos got a good chance for a goal in the 41st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of Corinthians Paulistano booed when Nova Era was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ivo Silva didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Ramón Pernambucano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Dalmo Recife to make the kick off. Tomás Tasso was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Ramón Pernambucano showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-3 in the 55 minute of play. Ramón Pernambucano scored 0-4 in the 63rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Tomás Tasso, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 68th minute, Célio Ramalho ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Tomás Tasso was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-5. 72 minutes into the match, Nova Era's goal looked a bit too open when Enéas Passos came free, but Tomás Tasso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ramón Pernambucano took the ball and in the 73 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Tomás Tasso. Tomás Tasso dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-6. Corinthians Paulistano's Ramón Pernambucano got a good chance for a goal in the 96th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The Nova Era supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Corinthians Paulistano's performance. The match ended with a win for Corinthians Paulistano.
