RIO DE JANEIRO's José Augusto Damião threw himself towards the right post 11 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Anísio Queirós, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. The throw-in from Celso Trevisan in the 12th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO's Sandrinho Tavares. Loramendi Cabarcos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dagoberto Macedo in the 16th minute of the match. 17 minutes into the match, E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO's goal looked a bit too open when Dagoberto Macedo came free, but Loramendi Cabarcos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The corner ended in Dagoberto Macedo almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO's Loramendi Cabarcos did a great save. The throw-in from Andrézinho Barros in the 20th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO's Bebeto Sarmento. Dagoberto Macedo blasted a shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Loramendi Cabarcos having to make a save. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Anísio Queirós in the 24th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg José Augusto Damião saved Barretos from getting behind. A sloppy throw-in by Andrézinho Barros in the 31st minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO's Bebeto Sarmento. With a little luck, Barretos's José Augusto Damião got control of the ball when Anísio Queirós tried to sneak it across the goal line. E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO's Bebeto Sarmento quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Giovani Paiva, made in the 34th minute of the game. 35 minutes into the match, Barretos's goal looked a bit too open when Anísio Queirós came free, but José Augusto Damião reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Anísio Queirós received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. José Augusto Damião tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 39 minutes into the match, E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO's goal looked a bit too open when Adalberto Loyola came free, but Loramendi Cabarcos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 39 minutes of play, Barretos's Adalberto Loyola made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Loramendi Cabarcos was left in no man's land by his defense there! After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Dagoberto Macedo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Anísio Queirós kicked well hit freekick during the 54th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Anísio Queirós in the 58th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck José Augusto Damião prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 60th minute E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO were awarded a corner. Izel Carrion went to the cornerflag to take it. In the 62nd minute Anísio Queirós shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but José Augusto Damião saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 62nd minute, Oswaldo Rosa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 67 played minutes E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO got a freekick which was hit by Augusto Lucas. Loramendi Cabarcos made an important save on a dangerous shot by Adalberto Loyola in the 69th minute. When Barretos's Dagoberto Macedo in the 70th minute got a chance for a shot 70th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye E.C. A collision led to Barretos getting a freekick after 72 minutes play. Andrézinho Barros hit a great ball. José Augusto Damião showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Anísio Queirós, who was totally free with the ball in the 73rd minute. E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO's Loramendi Cabarcos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dagoberto Macedo in the 77th minute of play. When E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO's Anísio Queirós in the 83rd minute got a chance for a shot 83rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Barretos's goalie prevented a goal. The audience was convinced that Anísio Queirós's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but José Augusto Damião was relentless in the 83rd minute of the game. Josué Barbosa kicked well hit freekick during the 84th minute of the match. Barretos's José Augusto Damião played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Anísio Queirós in the 85th minute of play. E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO's Loramendi Cabarcos proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 88th minute of the match, managed to save E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO from getting a goal against them. In the 90th minute, Anísio Queirós got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Loramendi Cabarcos had great luck who in the 92ndth minute grab hold of the ball when Dagoberto Macedo from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. The audience thought a goal was coming when Adalberto Loyola got free with Loramendi Cabarcos in the 94th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Loramendi Cabarcos made a fantastic save in the 96th minute, when Adalberto Loyola sent off a good shot on target.
