After having played for 13 minutes, Ian Pires managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SC FERRARI's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ian Pires was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A collision led to Flamengo getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Flávio Meirelles hit a great ball. When Hílton Carvalho fell near the penalty area in the 17th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SC FERRARI's protests and gave Hílton Carvalho a yellow card for diving instead. After 17 played minutes SC FERRARI got a freekick which was hit by Hílton Carvalho. Benjamim Pires made in the 20th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Oscar Andrade immediately put the ball in play. Alin Fânaru kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. SC FERRARI's Patrick Andrade got a good chance for a goal in the 25th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A collision led to SC FERRARI getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Anísio Silva hit a great ball. After 28 played minutes SC FERRARI got a freekick which was hit by Júlio Pirani. The supporters of SC FERRARI booed when Flamengo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Faustão Carvalho didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ian Pires's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Sem Titulescu read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 45th minute of play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Patrick Andrade made a kick off. Sem Titulescu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ian Pires, who was totally free with the ball in the 51st minute. The corner led SC FERRARI's Patrick Andrade to fire away a dangerous shot which Sem Titulescu despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Sem Titulescu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ian Pires in the 53rd minute of the match. Sem Titulescu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Patrick Andrade in the 55th minute of play. In the 59th minute Reinaldo de Medeiros shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sem Titulescu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. SC FERRARI's Fernando Otero played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Faustão Carvalho in the 65th minute of play. This resulted in a 0-1 score and a disappointed Fernando Otero as he didn't even see the shot coming. In the 79th minute Faustão Carvalho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fernando Otero saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ian Pires in the 81st minute of play forced Flamengo's goalkeeper Sem Titulescu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Fernando Otero made a fantastic save in the 83rd minute, when Abay Birsan sent off a good shot on target. Patrick Andrade struck a weak shot in the 87th minute. Sem Titulescu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SC FERRARI. SC FERRARI's Reinaldo de Medeiros got a good chance for a goal in the 94th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Flamengo's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
