When José Augusto Veloso came up free with the goalie in the 12th minute, the Paris San Duíche fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that José Augusto Veloso couldn't finish the play. Pedro Luiz Paranaense showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lino Capixaba, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. The audience was convinced that André Guimarães's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Arnaldo Catarinense was relentless in the 21st minute of the game. After a rather tough play, Paris San Duíche's José Augusto Veloso got a free kick in the 23rd minute. André Guimarães fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arnaldo Catarinense having to interfere. In the 31st minute Lino Capixaba shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pedro Luiz Paranaense saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell André Guimarães to make the kick off. Arnaldo Catarinense made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from André Guimarães in the 51st minute of play. When Lúcio Carneiro fell near the penalty area in the 76th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored E.C. Paulistão's protests and gave Lúcio Carneiro a yellow card for diving instead. José Augusto Veloso took the ball and in the 76 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Arnaldo Catarinense. Arnaldo Catarinense dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-4. The supporters of Paris San Duíche booed when E.C. Paulistão was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lino Capixaba didn't get a good kick on the ball. André Guimarães got in the 80th a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Arnaldo Catarinense handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. André Guimarães struck a weak shot in the 81st minute. Arnaldo Catarinense didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Paris San Duíche. 85 minutes into the game, Lino Capixaba cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-4. Pedro Luiz Paranaense was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. André Guimarães's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 88thth minute, Arnaldo Catarinense skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. After having played for 93 minutes, Enrique Koehler managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Paris San Duíche's supporters crossed their fingers, but Enrique Koehler was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Paris San Duíche's Pedro Luiz Paranaense played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luís Paiva in the 96th minute of play.
