Edinho Lira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pedro Rocha, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Frits Berendt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without João Adolfo Esteves having to interfere. 25 minutes into the match, INTER FC's goal looked a bit too open when Pedro Rocha came free, but Edinho Lira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A hard and well directed shot from Dorel Balaur led 31 minutes into the game to a goal after the ball had bounced deceptively just in front of the goal. INTER FC's Edinho Lira became a little unsure and couldn't grip the ball before it was over the goalline. Thus it was 1-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joélson Paulista in the 38th minute of play forced INTER FC's goalkeeper Edinho Lira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
