The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Cristiano Petito showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from João Carlos Romero, who was totally free with the ball in the 3rd minute. João Carlos Romeros short, quick shot in the 14thth minute got Cristiano Petito to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 44th minute João Carlos Romero shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cristiano Petito saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Carlinhos Vasconcelos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Israel Lages, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Vulcanos's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Sérgio Vianna was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-1. Cristiano Petito didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from João Carlos Romero went, in the 76th minute, to the upper right corner, 5-1 was the resulting score. 81 minutes into the game, Desemboque's João Carlos Romero nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Cristiano Petito made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 6-1. After 87 minutes of play, Desemboque's Sérgio Vianna made it 7-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Cristiano Petito was left in no man's land by his defense there! The supporters of Desemboque booed when Vulcanos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 90 match minutes in a wonderful position. Válbson Meirelles didn't get a good kick on the ball. The Desemboque support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
