In the 22nd minute of the match, César Soberano got a very nice opportunity to score, but Bret Harper was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. The crowd rose to their feet as Tosta Neto F.C's Douglas Cearense slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Bret Harper. That made the score 2-0 after 23 minutes of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Luiz Fábio Mendonça stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by André Zanette in the 67th minute of play forced Guarulhas's goalkeeper Bret Harper to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Remo Mineiro's late challenge caught a Tosta Neto F.C's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Remo Mineiro helped the player get up and apologised. Remo Mineiro hit a great freekick 94 minutes into the match. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Tosta Neto F.C fully deserved thier win.
