Battal Gazi Hürmüz did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-1 to the left of a surprised Norberto das Neves 12 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Flávio Borges in the 24th minute of play forced Caraguatei's goalkeeper Eliézer Pena to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Eliézer Pena stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Edgar Sena's shot from short distance in the 29th minute. In the 30th minute, Belmiro Soares ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Eliézer Pena was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. Norberto das Neves made a fantastic save in the 37th minute, when Battal Gazi Hürmüz sent off a good shot on target. In the 39th minute Belmiro Soares shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eliézer Pena saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Edgar Sena in the 41st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Eliézer Pena prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After some careless play in the Caraguatei defense, Edgar Sena kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Eliézer Pena. The Caraguatei fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Eliézer Pena should have stopped the shot.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Jaime de Queiroz to strike the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the match, Caraguatei's goalkeeper Eliézer Pena had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Edgar Sena. Tostão Lago helped the player get up and apologised. Tostão Lago kicked well hit freekick during the 67th minute of the match. Caraguatei's Isaltino Pontes couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 68th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for LUSINHA. Battal Gazi Hürmüz struck a weak shot in the 70th minute. Norberto das Neves didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Caraguatei. Eliézer Pena acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 74th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Pedrinho Botelho. 77 minutes into the match, Luís Fábio Rodrigues had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Norberto das Neves. LUSINHA's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Luís Fábio Rodrigues was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-3. 84 minutes into the match, Caraguatei's goalkeeper Eliézer Pena had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Edgar Sena. In the 89th minute, Pedrinho Botelho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 92nd minute, Jaime de Queiroz made a precise shot to the right of Norberto das Neves. LUSINHA's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-3. The LUSINHA players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented Caraguatei from taking control.
