In the 4th match minute, Botafogo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jailson Baptista to maneuver through the defense. Botafogo's Manoel Lago proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 5th minute of the match, managed to save Botafogo from getting a goal against them. After a rather tough play, Coelho FC's Pedro Pereira got a free kick in the 6th minute. Manoel Lago made an important save on a dangerous shot by Valdo Peres in the 11th minute. Manoel Lago came out of the goal in the 14th minute to try and stop a shot by Coelho FC's Eriberto Linhares. But to his dismay, Eriberto Linhares quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Coelho FC's Valdo Peres was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 17th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. 22 minutes into the match, Botafogo's goalkeeper Manoel Lago had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Valdo Peres. A collision led to Coelho FC getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. George Strömberg hit a great ball. Paulo Renato Novaes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Antônio de Almeida in the 34th minute of play. Paulo Renato Novaes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from 龚松川, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. 龚松川's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Paulo Renato Novaes read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 43rd minute of play. With his leg Manoel Lago managed to avoid a goal in the 46thth minute, when Coelho FC's Valdo Peres fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and 龚松川 made a kick off. 龚松川 sent away a hard shot on goal in the 51st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Valdo Peres in the 53rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Manoel Lago saved Botafogo from getting behind. When 龚松川 came up free with the goalie in the 54th minute, the Botafogo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that 龚松川 couldn't finish the play. In the 56th minute, Valdo Peres left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Coelho FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-0. Manoel Lago took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rodriguinho Hermes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When George Strömberg fell near the penalty area in the 70th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Coelho FC's protests and gave George Strömberg a yellow card for diving instead. After 70 played minutes Coelho FC got a freekick which was hit by George Strömberg. In the 71st minute, Rodriguinho Hermes left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Coelho FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-0. Valdo Peres scored 6-0 in the 79th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Manoel Lago, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Valdo Peres in the 82nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Manoel Lago saved Botafogo from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rodriguinho Hermes in the 85th minute of play forced Botafogo's goalkeeper Manoel Lago to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 87 minutes had been played when some careless play by Botafogo's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Jordi Puig was slow to take the kick. During this time Coelho FC's players had a chance to rest. 90 minutes into the match, Botafogo's goal looked a bit too open when Valdo Peres came free, but Manoel Lago reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Coelho FC were awarded a corner in the 91th minute after Botafogo's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Jordi Puig took the corner. For all the effort they put into the match, the Botafogo players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Coelho FC.
