In the 39thth minute of the game Zé Paulo Pombal who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Mazomba SC's Válbson Sergipano was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. With an all-out effort, Mazomba SC's Eguen Armesto threw himself towards the right post 41 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Dénes Ábrahám, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

Cruzeiro RS's Eguen Armesto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zachary Terasek in the 52nd minute of play.
