In the 76th minute Hortêncio Montenegro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nelsinho Alvarenga saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 80 minutes into the game, Tales França was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gustavo Marinho in the 88th minute of play forced Inazuma Japan's goalkeeper Zé Vieira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
