Tostão Arantes was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Ulryk Trzaskoma kicked well hit freekick during the 8th minute of the match. Peter Mpenza might have been able to make a better finish in the 12th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Tostão Arantes. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Peter Mpenza ran back to his position shaking his head. If Peter Mpenza had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Tostão Arantes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Peter Mpenza, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. Peter Mpenza blasted a shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Tostão Arantes having to make a save. 18 minutes into the match, Peter Mpenza had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Tostão Arantes. Czar Sporting's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Peter Mpenza was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. Canarinho Atordoado's Luiz Leo got a good chance for a goal in the 28th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Czar Sporting's zone, Peter Mpenza stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tostão Arantes came out of the goal and Peter Mpenza tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 37 minutes Canarinho Atordoado's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Zé Roberto Castro who took care of the corner kick. The corner ended in Zé Roberto Castro almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Canarinho Atordoado's Dé Mello did a great save. In the 45th minute, Peter Mpenza ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Tostão Arantes was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-0. Tostão Arantes made an important save on a dangerous shot by Luiz Leo in the 48th minute. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Peter Mpenza to make the kick off. 53 minutes into the game, Canarinho Atordoado's Peter Mpenza nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Tostão Arantes made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-0. Luiz Leo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Tostão Arantes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 60 minutes Czar Sporting's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Peter Mpenza who took care of the corner kick. If Luiz Leo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jerônimo Salgado got a throw-in 64 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Zé Roberto Castro. After a rather tough play, Czar Sporting's Remo Velasco got a free kick in the 69th minute. Czar Sporting made a substitution. André Luís Leal replaced Ricardinho Carioca. Remo Velasco kicked well hit freekick during the 70th minute of the match. In the 72nd minute, Tuncer İlbaşı hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 74th minute the ball was on its way in behind Czar Sporting's goalkeeper Tostão Arantes, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Peter Mpenza fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tostão Arantes having to interfere. Dé Mello was a little too slow when Zé Roberto Castro got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 78th minute. The score was now 4-1. A collision led to Canarinho Atordoado getting a freekick after 81 minutes play. Peter Mpenza hit a great ball. If Luiz Leo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Zé Roberto Castro during the 89th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 89 played minutes Czar Sporting got a freekick which was hit by Zé Roberto Castro. Tostão Arantes stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Luiz Leo's shot from short distance in the 90th minute. Tostão Arantes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luiz Leo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The crowd rose to their feet as Czar Sporting's André Luís Leal slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Dé Mello. That made the score 4-2 after 95 minutes of play. Czar Sporting's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
