Gerson Rezende didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Nico Bueno in the 15th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Alisson Goycochea prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a rather tough play, Santiago Futebol Clube's Gonzalo Mangas got a free kick in the 16th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ezio Gøl in the 19th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Francisco Zanette saved Santiago Futebol Clube from getting behind. Francisco Zanette made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nilmar de Souza in the 22nd minute of play. The supporters of INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA booed when Santiago Futebol Clube was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gonzalo Mangas didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 30th minute, Nilmar de Souza ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Francisco Zanette was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. Geovanni Ramalho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Francisco Zanette having to interfere. 36 minutes into the match, Ezio Gøl notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of Santiago Futebol Clube's Francisco Zanette. Francisco Zanette was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 42 minutes into the match, INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA's Gustavo Scarpa sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Francisco Zanette narrowly saved just below the crossbar. INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA were awarded a corner in the 43th minute after Santiago Futebol Clube's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Ezio Gøl took the corner. Ezio Gøl made a great header on INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA's corner, it was just that Santiago Futebol Clube's Francisco Zanette managed to reach the ball for a save. After having played for 46 minutes, Ezio Gøl managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ezio Gøl was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ezio Gøl made a kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Gerson Rezende notched a goal, 3-0, to the right of Santiago Futebol Clube's Francisco Zanette. Francisco Zanette was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 57th minute Nilmar de Souza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Francisco Zanette saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 62ndth minute of the game Lorenzo Santa María who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA's Alisson Goycochea was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After a rather tough play, Santiago Futebol Clube's Ove Ödman got a free kick in the 65th minute. INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA made a substitution. Lucas Head Son replaced Ezio Gøl. Geovanni Ramalho struck a weak shot in the 67th minute. Francisco Zanette didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA. Alisson Goycochea made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lorenzo Santa María in the 71st minute of play. Santiago Futebol Clube's Francisco Zanette played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gerson Rezende in the 73rd minute of play. Alisson Goycochea took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lorenzo Santa María, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nico Bueno sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 83 minutes had been played when some careless play by INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Arlindo Ramos was slow to take the kick. During this time Santiago Futebol Clube's players had a chance to rest. The corner led Santiago Futebol Clube's Arlindo Ramos to fire away a dangerous shot which Alisson Goycochea despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. 84 minutes into the game, Gerson Rezende cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-0. Francisco Zanette was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Nilmar de Souza received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Francisco Zanette tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the referee ended the match the INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
