The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Ramon Feliu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Detlef Markholt, who was totally free with the ball in the 5th minute. 7 minutes into the match, Independiente's goal looked a bit too open when Natalio Venceslao came free, but Ramon Feliu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With an all-out effort, Independiente's Carolo Herauso threw himself towards the right post 18 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Severino Silbestre, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Ramon Feliu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Agustin Vela in the 21st minute of play. After some careless play in the Independiente defense, Detlef Markholt kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ramon Feliu. The Independiente fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ramon Feliu should have stopped the shot. Natalio Venceslao sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Placido Marin hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. 28 minutes into the match, Independiente's goal looked a bit too open when Detlef Markholt came free, but Ramon Feliu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ramon Feliu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Chacarita FC. The Independiente players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Chacarita FC were winning 0-3.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Severino Silbestre to make the kick off. After 54 minutes, Marcos Etor mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Independiente and the Chacarita FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Independiente's Marcos Etor got a free kick in the 54th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 56th minute, Evelio Estebano managed to get in a good position for a shot. Independiente's supporters rose to their feet, but Evelio Estebano was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Carolo Herauso breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ramon Feliu made an important save on a dangerous shot by Natalio Venceslao in the 62nd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Detlef Markholt in the 69th minute of play forced Independiente's goalkeeper Ramon Feliu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 74th minute, Fausto Txema hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The crowd rose to their feet as Detlef Markholt kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Ramon Feliu. That made the score 0-5 in the 78 minute of play. In the 83rd minute, Natalio Venceslao ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ramon Feliu was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-6. Ramon Feliu didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 89th minute, which inside left pole to 0-7. The Independiente fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Chacarita FC were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
