After a defensive mix-up in Esquel FC's zone, Luisito Arano stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Niceto Illan came out of the goal and Luisito Arano tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Luisito Arano took the ball and in the 6 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Niceto Illan. Niceto Illan dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. A collision led to Esquel FC getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Angelino Bikendi hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Esquel FC's zone, Alvaro Marz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Niceto Illan came out of the goal and Alvaro Marz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With his leg Niceto Illan managed to avoid a goal in the 13thth minute, when Boca Juniors's Luisito Arano fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 14 minutes into the match, Esquel FC's goal looked a bit too open when Fausto Timo came free, but Niceto Illan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 15 minutes into the match, Esquel FC's goalkeeper Niceto Illan had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Luisito Arano. In the 17th minute, Celso Nuñez made a precise shot to the right of Wilhelm Morczinietz. Boca Juniors's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. Esquel FC's Celso Nuñez got a good chance for a goal in the 23rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 24 minutes into the game, Tomas Abeitia was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Boca Juniors's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Esquel FC the free kick. Tomas Abeitia hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. Wilhelm Morczinietz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Celso Nuñez in the 25th minute of play. Celso Nuñez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Wilhelm Morczinietz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Teo Otsando in the 33rd minute of play forced Esquel FC's goalkeeper Niceto Illan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Luisito Arano got free with Niceto Illan in the 34th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 37 minutes into the match, Esquel FC's goalkeeper Niceto Illan had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Luisito Arano. In the 39th minute, Luisito Arano got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 45th minute of the match, Nunez Ricart tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Niceto Illan saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Luisito Arano's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Niceto Illan firmly grabbed it by the left post. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Fausto Timo to strike the kick off in the second half. Niceto Illan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luisito Arano in the 52nd minute of the match. In the 53rd minute, Teo Otsando ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Niceto Illan was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. After 57 minutes of play, Boca Juniors's Nunez Ricart made it 3-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Niceto Illan was left in no man's land by his defense there! An unexpectedly hard shot by Fausto Timo in the 60th minute of play forced Esquel FC's goalkeeper Niceto Illan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Esquel FC's Niceto Illan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luisito Arano in the 61st minute of play. The supporters of Boca Juniors booed when Esquel FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. Celso Nuñez didn't get a good kick on the ball. Niceto Illan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fausto Timo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Niceto Illan came out of the goal in the 65th minute to try and stop a shot by Boca Juniors's Luisito Arano. But to his dismay, Luisito Arano quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-1. In the 67th minute Nunez Ricart shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Niceto Illan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 69th minute, Cristobal Eutor hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 72 minutes into the match, Esquel FC's goal looked a bit too open when Everardo Malvin came free, but Niceto Illan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Geronimo Presebal kicked well hit freekick during the 72nd minute of the match. Niceto Illan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luisito Arano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
