In the 12th minute Celso Roderigo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ceferino Sanduru saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 16 minutes into the match, Velez Sarsfield's goal looked a bit too open when Cirilo Quinteros came free, but Ceferino Sanduru reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 17th minute, Velez Sarsfield's Haroldo Leizarraga seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Haroldo Leizarraga the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Velez Sarsfield protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Haroldo Leizarraga had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. Ceferino Sanduru didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for El Leon de La Plata. Ceferino Sanduru took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Humberto Llorian, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 23 minutes into the match, Velez Sarsfield's goal looked a bit too open when Humberto Llorian came free, but Ceferino Sanduru reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 25 minutes of play, El Leon de La Plata's Celso Roderigo made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. In the 41stth minute of the game Cirilo Quinteros who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Velez Sarsfield's Ceferino Sanduru was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Alvaro Xacintu scored 0-3 in the 46th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ceferino Sanduru, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Nicasio Abalos made a kick off.
