But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Basilio Joseph couldn't finish the play. Simon Acosta might have been able to make a better finish in the 13th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Pedro Paez. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Simon Acosta ran back to his position shaking his head. Damaso Sabino recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 17th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A collision led to chilenito getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Ruben Basajaun hit a great ball. Simon Acosta might have been able to make a better finish in the 22nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Pedro Paez. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Simon Acosta ran back to his position shaking his head. 24 minutes into the match, Alumni V.M's goal looked a bit too open when Eusebio Presebal came free, but Oscar Marino reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Simon Acosta's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Pedro Paez read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 26th minute of play. Alumni V.M's Basilio Joseph got a good chance for a goal in the 27th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Pedro Paez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, chilenito's Adrian Arnau got a free kick in the 36th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Simon Acosta kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Pedro Paez. That made the score 2-0 in the 38 minute of play. The supporters of chilenito booed when Alumni V.M was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Leonardo Bernaldo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jonathan Bittor took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 42nd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Oscar Marino. Alumni V.M's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 45th minute Simon Acosta shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pedro Paez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Eusebio Presebal hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. chilenito's Pedro Paez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Simon Acosta in the 54th minute of play. 56 minutes into the game, Eusebio Presebal cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Oscar Marino was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Oscar Marino took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ariel Javiar, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Simon Acosta received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Pedro Paez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. chilenito's Pedro Paez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Simon Acosta in the 78th minute of play. Pedro Paez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Simon Acosta, who was totally free with the ball in the 83rd minute. If Simon Acosta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 87 minutes into the match, Alumni V.M's Simon Acosta sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Pedro Paez narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 89th minute, Simon Acosta got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 90th minute Simon Acosta shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pedro Paez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Alumni V.M getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Laureano Rioja hit a great ball.
