Alonzo Bernat was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. If Vicente Nazario had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 19th match minute, santa marta was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fidel Chus to maneuver through the defense. Agustin Montez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Alonzo Bernat tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Fulgencio Aurken during the 33rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Fulgencio Aurken kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. In the 34th minute, Danilo Flor hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Rosario Central's Vicente Nazario got a good chance for a goal in the 38th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Agustin Montez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alonzo Bernat having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Flavio Vela was the one to do the kick off. Alonzo Bernat took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vicente Nazario, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 59 minutes, Agustin Montez managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Rosario Central's supporters crossed their fingers, but Agustin Montez was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 65th minute Vicente Nazario shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alonzo Bernat saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Vicente Nazario had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Agustin Montez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Alonzo Bernat tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Vicente Nazario came up free with the goalie in the 82nd minute, the Rosario Central fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Vicente Nazario couldn't finish the play. Ermegildo Alfonso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Flavio Vela in the 86th minute of play. The supporters of santa marta booed when Rosario Central was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hugo Frechoso didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 88 played minutes, santa marta's Tobias Galoer shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Ermegildo Alfonso came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in santa marta reached it. In the 90th minute of the match Tobias Galoer sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ermegildo Alfonso skillfully saved the ball. Ermegildo Alfonso came out of the goal in the 95th minute to try and stop a shot by santa marta's Fidel Chus. But to his dismay, Fidel Chus quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. santa marta were victorious despite being under pressure from Rosario Central for much of the match.
