Spectators: 6000 (Terracing: 4500, Seating: 1500, VIP seats: 0) Saprissa Futbol's Rigoberto Fidele started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 3 minutes, Bartolo Iraido mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the C.D.Gerli. and the Saprissa Futbol players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 3 played minutes C.D.Gerli. got a freekick which was hit by Bartolo Iraido. In the 11th minute, Blas Ciano got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Feliciano Isadore took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Blas Ciano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 16 minutes into the match, Bernardino Ofelio had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Feliciano Isadore. Saprissa Futbol's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Bernardino Ofelio was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. In the 20th minute, C.D.Gerli.'s Blas Ciano dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-0. Adan Valiente came out of the goal in the 29th minute to try and stop a shot by Saprissa Futbol's Rigoberto Fidele. But to his dismay, Rigoberto Fidele quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-1. Saprissa Futbol's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Blas Ciano 35 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 4-1. After 37 minutes, Blas Ciano mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the C.D.Gerli. and the Saprissa Futbol players grew even worse after the yellow card. Blas Ciano hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. Marcelino Tono sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Feliciano Isadore made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Blas Ciano in the 47th minute of play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 4-1.

Blas Ciano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Feliciano Isadore tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Blas Ciano in the 57th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Feliciano Isadore prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 67 minutes into the match, Saprissa Futbol's goal looked a bit too open when Bernardino Ofelio came free, but Feliciano Isadore reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Saprissa Futbol getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Rigoberto Fidele hit a great ball. Feliciano Isadore showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Blas Ciano, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 80th minute, Blas Ciano managed to get in a good position for a shot. C.D.Gerli.'s supporters rose to their feet, but Blas Ciano was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Feliciano Isadore breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 83rd match minute, C.D.Gerli. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bernardino Ofelio to maneuver through the defense. C.D.Gerli.'s Adan Valiente proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 84th minute of the match, managed to save C.D.Gerli. from getting a goal against them. Saprissa Futbol's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
