Los Viciosos's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Independiente the free kick. A collision led to Los Viciosos getting a freekick after 3 minutes play. Damaso Sein hit a great ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Arnulfo Benvido in the 8th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jorge Oskarbi saved Los Viciosos from getting behind. After 11 played minutes Los Viciosos got a freekick which was hit by Dante Semeno. Arnulfo Benvido sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Santiago Mero fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Romeo Panțâru having to interfere. Ovidio Calixtos short, quick shot in the 23rdth minute got Romeo Panțâru to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Independiente's Isidoro Cristos got a good chance for a goal in the 27th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Arnulfo Benvido struck a weak shot in the 29th minute. Jorge Oskarbi didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Independiente. Aristides Berriotxoa came free with the goalkeeper in the 31st minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Romeo Panțâru could save by the left post. Jorge Oskarbi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Arnulfo Benvido, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Feliciano Maties received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Jorge Oskarbi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With his leg Romeo Panțâru managed to avoid a goal in the 38thth minute, when Los Viciosos's Aristides Berriotxoa fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Independiente's Romeo Panțâru proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 40th minute of the match, managed to save Independiente from getting a goal against them. If Aristides Berriotxoa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dante Semeno received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Romeo Panțâru tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Aristides Berriotxoa stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 51st match minute, Independiente was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pepe Williams to maneuver through the defense. In the 52nd minute Ovidio Calixto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Romeo Panțâru saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Arnulfo Benvido's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jorge Oskarbi read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 65th minute of play. Romeo Panțâru showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Aristides Berriotxoa in the 73rd minute of the match. 75 minutes into the match, Aristides Berriotxoa notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Independiente's Romeo Panțâru. Romeo Panțâru was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it.
