In the 22nd minute Ignacio Larra shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Antonio Leoiar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gauchos de Epecuén's Antonio Leoiar played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristo Oihenarte in the 26th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Teobaldo Thomas in the 29th minute of play forced Gauchos de Epecuén's goalkeeper Antonio Leoiar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Nueva Chicago getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Rogelio Eliu hit a great ball. 32 minutes into the match Pablo Hegoi climbed in front of goal and pressed up 1-1 in the right cross behind a totally surprised Fernan Ladio. Antonio Leoiar took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Teobaldo Thomas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Antonio Leoiar had in the 41stth minute some difficulties stopping Mario Oliverio's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. The supporters of Gauchos de Epecuén booed when Nueva Chicago was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cristo Oihenarte didn't get a good kick on the ball. Antonio Leoiar made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Teobaldo Thomas in the 47th minute of play. Cristo Oihenarte sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Teobaldo Thomas made a kick off. Cristo Oihenarte received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Antonio Leoiar tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 58 minutes into the match, Gauchos de Epecuén's goal looked a bit too open when Teobaldo Thomas came free, but Antonio Leoiar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
