They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Victorino Vimaro stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 52 minutes of play, c.s.municipal's Eugenio Bento made it 3-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. In the 89th minute Placido Larpe shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Haroldo Salvino saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mauro Modestio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Anier Taurino having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Merced FC's zone, Mauro Modestio stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Anier Taurino came out of the goal and Mauro Modestio tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 94 minutes into the match, Moises Aurre notched a goal, 8-1, to the right of Merced FC's Anier Taurino. Anier Taurino was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Victorino Vimaro's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Anier Taurino read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 97th minute of play. For all the effort they put into the match, the Merced FC players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for c.s.municipal.
