When Victorino Txilar fell near the penalty area in the 14th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Rinconada AFC's protests and gave Victorino Txilar a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Rinconada AFC getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Victorino Txilar hit a great ball. Aristides Lazcano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Angel Cordario having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Merced FC's Armando Delfino got a free kick in the 25th minute. Albino Francesco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Angel Cordario tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 44th minute, Albino Francesco managed to get in a good position for a shot. Merced FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Albino Francesco was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Angel Cordario breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After the first half the score was level. After some careless play in the Merced FC defense, Baldomero Rafe kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Anier Taurino. The Merced FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Anier Taurino should have stopped the shot.
