With an extended leg and a bit of luck Lucio Gorri prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The supporters of Gimnasia de Necochea booed when Platense FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Siro Gabirel didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 13th minute Martin Kaxen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Victor Havier saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Victor Havier showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alfredo Tabb, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. After 16 minutes of play, Platense FC's Siro Gabirel made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Lucio Gorri was left in no man's land by his defense there! When Siro Gabirel fell near the penalty area in the 20th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Platense FC's protests and gave Siro Gabirel a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Platense FC getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Siro Gabirel hit a great ball. Lucio Gorri made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gabriel Erruki in the 26th minute. 27 minutes into the match, Platense FC's goal looked a bit too open when Julian Louis came free, but Victor Havier reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With his leg Lucio Gorri managed to avoid a goal in the 29thth minute, when Platense FC's Gabriel Erruki fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. If Peter Lind had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gabriel Erruki could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 32nd minute of the match, but Lucio Gorri made a huge save. After 32 played minutes Gimnasia de Necochea got a freekick which was hit by Julian Louis. Gabriel Errukis short, quick shot in the 33rdth minute got Lucio Gorri to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Bernardino Txomin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Lucio Gorri tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gabriel Erruki in the 40th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Lucio Gorri saved Gimnasia de Necochea from getting behind. Bernardino Txomin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 45 minutes into the game, Siro Gabirel cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Lucio Gorri was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gabriel Erruki stepped up to make the kick off in the second half.
