In the 6th minute Reynaldo Cordeal shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Federico Chilavert saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Federico Chilavert showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Faustino Izel, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. If Reynaldo Cordeal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Justo Luzaide came free in the 14th minute and tried to tip the ball over Igor Luix, but to the joy of Escalada FC's supporters the ball went over. In the 16th minute, Escalada FC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Blas Walme fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Anthony Kiedis's Federico Chilavert played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Reynaldo Cordeal in the 17th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Blas Walme got free with Igor Luix in the 19th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Anthony Kiedis's Federico Chilavert played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Reynaldo Cordeal in the 21st minute of play. Federico Chilavert made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Faustino Izel in the 23rd minute of play. Leonides Ramond fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Igor Luix having to interfere. In the 31st minute Reynaldo Cordeal shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Federico Chilavert saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Blas Walme sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Justo Luzaide fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Igor Luix having to interfere. In the 40th minute, Leonides Ramond sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Escalada FC's Igor Luix didn't even have to move. Anthony Kiedis's Blas Walme got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Justo Luzaide came free in the 47th minute and tried to tip the ball over Igor Luix, but to the joy of Escalada FC's supporters the ball went over. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Faustino Izel to make the kick off. Blas Walme received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Igor Luix tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 61stth minute of the game Blas Walme who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Escalada FC's Igor Luix was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Faustino Izel hit a great freekick 69 minutes into the match. Federico Chilavert came out of the goal in the 72nd minute to try and stop a shot by Escalada FC's Adolfo Bessa. But to his dismay, Adolfo Bessa quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. 80 minutes into the match, Anthony Kiedis's Leonides Ramond sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Igor Luix narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Blas Walme fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Igor Luix having to interfere. Blas Walme struck a weak shot in the 83rd minute. Igor Luix didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Anthony Kiedis. In the 84th minute of the match, Adolfo Bessa got a very nice opportunity to score, but Federico Chilavert was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. A collision led to Anthony Kiedis getting a freekick after 85 minutes play. Aldo Mateo hit a great ball. Justo Luzaide came free in the 89th minute and tried to tip the ball over Igor Luix, but to the joy of Escalada FC's supporters the ball went over.
