In the 8th match minute, Valenzuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Paulo Eron to maneuver through the defense. Marco Nahia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Faustino Gagriel having to interfere. After a rather tough play, C.A.SANTA ANA's Gabriel Fidensio got a free kick in the 11th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Valenzuela's zone, Angel Machado stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Faustino Gagriel came out of the goal and Angel Machado tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Angel Machado came up free with the goalie in the 20th minute, the C.A.SANTA ANA fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Angel Machado couldn't finish the play. Agustin Segio's late challenge caught a C.A.SANTA ANA's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Agustin Segio helped the player get up and apologised. In the 24th minute, Agustin Segio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Paulo Eron sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, C.A.SANTA ANA's Angel Machado got a free kick in the 30th minute. Enzo Mikelats recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 38th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With his leg Cristian Aimar managed to avoid a goal in the 39thth minute, when Valenzuela's Benedicto Cidro fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Benedicto Cidro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Cristian Aimar tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thanks to some nice moves Benedicto Cidro could shoot a difficult shot in the 46th minute, which Cristian Aimar however easily saved by the left post. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Angel Machado to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute Benedicto Cidro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cristian Aimar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Angel Machado charged in rather forcefully in the 55th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Angel Machado the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Benedicto Cidro in the 68th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Cristian Aimar prevented the ball from getting in the gole. C.A.SANTA ANA's Angel Machado got his second yellow card of the match in the 70th minute. The referee ordered Angel Machado off the ground. The supporters of Valenzuela booed when C.A.SANTA ANA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Angel Machado didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 72 played minutes C.A.SANTA ANA got a freekick which was hit by Leonel Stanislao. Cristian Aimar showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Benedicto Cidro in the 74th minute of the match. Faustino Gagriel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marco Nahia in the 77th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Benedicto Cidro in the 81st minute of play forced C.A.SANTA ANA's goalkeeper Cristian Aimar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 81st match minute, C.A.SANTA ANA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Antonio Lopes to maneuver through the defense. After some careless play in the C.A.SANTA ANA defense, Benedicto Cidro kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Cristian Aimar. The C.A.SANTA ANA fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Cristian Aimar should have stopped the shot. Benedicto Cidro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute.
