Joel Brodel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jairo Iyan having to interfere. In the 16th match minute, Campaña was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Diego Arlo to maneuver through the defense. 17 minutes into the match, Campaña's goal looked a bit too open when Pastor Hever came free, but Jairo Iyan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Luisito Montrelle fell near the penalty area in the 37th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Campaña's protests and gave Luisito Montrelle a yellow card for diving instead. After 37 played minutes Campaña got a freekick which was hit by Luisito Montrelle. Haroldo Transito stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Placido Suero's shot from short distance in the 43rd minute. When Octavio Cutberto fell near the penalty area in the 45th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored C.F. Martin Club's protests and gave Octavio Cutberto a yellow card for diving instead. In the 45th minute, Octavio Cutberto hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After the first half Campaña were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Placido Suero stepped up to make the kick off in the second half.
