The ball went over the crossbar instead. The audience was convinced that Amancio Iraunkor's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Niceto Serafo was relentless in the 27th minute of the game. After a rather tough play, Club Atletico Colón's Diego Giraldo got a free kick in the 29th minute. After some careless play in the Club Deportivo Mostruo defense, Froilan Pes kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Niceto Serafo. The Club Deportivo Mostruo fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Niceto Serafo should have stopped the shot. Club Atletico Colón's Amancio Iraunkor got a good chance for a goal in the 39th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Amancio Iraunkor sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Club Deportivo Mostruo's Niceto Serafo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Amancio Iraunkor in the 41st minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Froilan Pes in the 44th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Niceto Serafo saved Club Deportivo Mostruo from getting behind. Amancio Iraunkor sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

After a rather tough play, Club Deportivo Mostruo's Victorio Goyo got a free kick in the 52nd minute. The supporters of Club Atletico Colón booed when Club Deportivo Mostruo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Club Atletico Colón eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
