In the 16th minute Efrain Mergildo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Delmiro Araoz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sergio Nevada took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rene Orlin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Delmiro Araoz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jonas Estebano in the 22nd minute of the match. In the 24thth minute of the game Jonas Estebano who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Gimnasia Y Tiro De Salta's Delmiro Araoz was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When Jonas Estebano came up free with the goalie in the 28th minute, the Anisacate fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jonas Estebano couldn't finish the play. Jonas Estebano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Delmiro Araoz having to interfere. When Rene Orlin fell near the penalty area in the 33rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Gimnasia Y Tiro De Salta's protests and gave Rene Orlin a yellow card for diving instead. After 33 played minutes Gimnasia Y Tiro De Salta got a freekick which was hit by Rene Orlin. Delmiro Araoz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gerardo Columbo in the 34th minute of play. If Gerardo Columbo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Rene Orlin hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Hermengildo Ondino made a kick off. A collision led to Anisacate getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. Celedonio Sanduru hit a great ball. 53 minutes into the game, Hermengildo Ondino cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Sergio Nevada was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Isaias Gabino made in the 57th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Francisco Romano immediately put the ball in play. Gerardo Columbo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Delmiro Araoz having to interfere. When the match clock showed 69 minutes, the score became 1-1 when Gerardo Columbo sped through Gimnasia Y Tiro De Salta's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Delmiro Araoz. In the 72nd minute, Hermengildo Ondino made a precise shot to the right of Sergio Nevada. Anisacate's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. 76 minutes in the game, Gerardo Columbo fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Delmiro Araoz having to interfere. Sergio Nevada made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hermengildo Ondino in the 78th minute of play. Efrain Mergildo lost his temper 80 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. 79 minutes into the game, one of Anisacate:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Many of Anisacate's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Anisacate may have spent more time on the ball, but Gimnasia Y Tiro De Salta were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
